What
can I
expect at a Gathering? Every Sunday, we will gather together for a special time of worship and discipleship. This time of gathering is not a formalized, overly-scripted service, instead, our desire is that is be an orderly time of singing, prayer, and teaching. We will break away from the script for times of prayer and intercession, we will sing a song not on the script if we feel led, and we will allow for times of testimony if we believe that those in attendance will be encouraged in their faith. In the end, it is the desire of the leadership of The Church in the Hills that anyone who attends our gathering will be given the opportunity to worship in song and in hearing a message, and that everyone will walk away feeling blessed to have been there.
On a typical Sunday, we will begin our gathering with a few worship songs (a contemporary blend of hymns and choruses), and then spend some time in prayer. We will sing a few more songs and then we will have the message.
The messages given by our pastor are interactive and introspective. We
want
people to have the freedom to answer questions posed by the pastor, and
to ask
a question when appropriate. We will utilize the original languages to
enhance
our teaching, and we will be devoted to teaching through the great
texts of the
Bible. Though we are not opposed to teaching on topics, the bulk of our
teaching will be spent proclaiming the message of a God who loves us
and a
savior who died for us . . . the only application we offer is how to
live in
response to God’s love and salvation!
Where are the Kids during our Gathering?
We think families ought to worship together. Therefore, the kids will be with their parents during our time of music and prayer prior to the message. When the message begins, the kids (ages 0-10) will go to a time of Kid’s Worship at which is led by a rotation of parents. The kids will return at the end of the message to enjoy our closing time of music and prayer. All kids will need to register prior to the beginning of the gathering for security purposes. The goal is maturity, learning, and worship.
Where are the Gatherings?
We are currently meeting in the “Upper Room” of Depew Orthodontics
located at 2161 Cedarcrest Road
in Acworth. There is a separate
entrance on the left side (if you are facing the front door) of the
building
which leads to the “Upper Room”. The Kid’s Worship takes place at The Learning
Experience (a Day
Care Center) which is located next door to Depew Orthodontics. If you
are
map-challenged, it is about a half mile down the road from the entrance
of
Seven Hills.
