HOMELESS
“For
I was hungry and you
gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to
drink.”
On the 3rd Sunday night of each month, we have the privilege of preparing and serving a “gourmet” meal for 30-40 residents at Calvary Refuge Center located in Forest Park, Georgia. We get to set the menu, purchase the food, prepare the meal on-site, and serve the meal. The facility is a great place of ministry because it is limited to no more than 40 residents per night, so we are able to not only serve them a great meal, we also get to sit with the residents, have some great conversations, and pray with them. It is truly a blessing to be able to serve at Calvary Refuge Center.
The ambition of our church in this ministry is to try to serve the best meal possible for the residents. We truly believe that God sees when we serve the “least of these” so we want Him to see us doing it right. To that end, we will gladly serve gourmet meals like shrimp, steak, and stuffed chicken breasts with all the trimmings. We will also have fun by hosting hamburger cookouts, “nacho night”, and breakfast for dinner with a fully-stocked pancake station.
Mother Theresa tells us the Jesus often disguises Himself in the “distressing disguise of the poor” . . . we will not let Him go unserved, unfed, or unloved.
