At the Church in the Hills, the sole measure of “success” is whether or not people who encounter our church or its members are connecting to their God. The most mature Christian and the person encountering the Gospel for the first time should walk away from The Church in the Hills having had the message of the Bible accurately, creatively, and profoundly presented to them . . . And our success will be judged solely on the experience of each person who enters our gatherings or encounters those who have been to our gatherings.
What we are not . . .
We are not a church that evaluates its effectiveness by the number of people who enter our gatherings, or become a covenant member. We prefer to evaluate effectiveness on how you leave our gatherings.
We are not a church that encourages emotion over truth. We believe emotion should follow great truths.
We are not a church that has any desire to be a “mega-church”. We are focusing all our attention on a three-mile radius and we hope to engage that community with great depth of message and ministry rather than attempt to attract the masses.
We are not a church that intends on being attractional. We will rest our attraction on the awe-inspiring beauty of the message of the Bible and of the community that results from a body of people who embody that message.
We are not a church that believes Christianity is a means to health or wealth. We just do not find that in the Bible. If anything, Christianity is a means to generously giving away your wealth and your life as the opportunity presents itself.
We are not a church that will use our members to grow our organization. We are a church that is devoted solely to using our organizational capacity to minister, to disciple, and to encourage our members in their faith by connecting them to their God.
We are not a church that places any confidence in human effort. We believe that through diligent prayer and humble preparation, God will do amazing things in the lives of each person through His Spirit and His Word.
